Try adjusting your Rider Mass Distribution higher and try using more throttle control, letting off some coming up the jump face then blipping throttle at the jump takeoff. Once you figure it out you will get to a point where it becomes second nature and you wont even think about it much.

They are probably seeing your number on the plate then quickly looking at the names and numbers who are playing and getting a match that way.

I play alot without sound, especially when online. I find I can concentrate better and not be bothered by the sound of the bike following me. It's all visual speed perception.
