Re: 2011-12-08 snapshot
I was going to add it with the 2009 Transworld numbers, but when I looked it up the SX-F was making over 40 HP on their dyno. So I decided I'd wait until I switch the 250f's over to the MotoUSA numbers before I add the 250 SX-F.
If someone with a good skin collection wants to make a list of them I'd be able to make the info files for all of them with a script easily. I'd need the exact names of the png files.

Quick question JLV,
Would it be possible for you to add a user adjustable, increase from stock settings only of course, engine braking adjustment? I can't stand the way the 450's and the 250 2 stroke have seemingly no engine braking. Not sure how many others would appreciate this, but it would certainly make my day!

I agree, we should definitely go against how it really is so that you can go even more WFO.

WRONG - 250F engines have less engine braking than 450F engines. Also, 2-stroke engines have a pretty small engine braking to be honest... but 450F bikes should have quite more enigne brakingKTM57 wrote:I agree, we should definitely go against how it really is so that you can go even more WFO.
Btw, if you don't believe me, just try to ride some road bike (600cc V4 engine wold do the job) and try to apply some engine braking... it's absolutely HUGE even a lightweight 600cc bike weights like 50kg (140lbs or so) more than a 250F motocross bike

Yea I wondered this too tbh when 450s came out. I suppose he done it for balance. I bought a simulator though, not a fair and balanced look at the track .

This should help whoever plans to give JLV the list of skins. Or if a bunch of people will do so and upload their lists, we can get an all inclusive list of skins.jlv wrote:I was going to add it with the 2009 Transworld numbers, but when I looked it up the SX-F was making over 40 HP on their dyno. Personal Folder Lister
Syntax:
Code: Select all
python crawler.py <personal_folder_location> <output_file>
- You need python 2.6 to use this
- Output file should be .txt
- You should do this for your personal folder and your install folder
- Make sure you use the proper syntax, or something funky might happen

Just so people know. If there is a space in your personal folder path you need to put quotes around the whole thing. ALSO, don't put a \ at the end of your personal folder name.yzmxer608 wrote:What am I doing wrong wheels?
His should be
Code: Select all
python crawler.py "C:\Users\Nate\AppData\Local\MX Simulator" personalfoldercrawl.txt

Some weird shit happening to me latly. Its seems every few seconds or more the bike and rider shutter very rapidly. Its really driving me nuts.
Take a close look at this in the video, pay attention to the wheels, that the easiest place to see it. And the last clip in the video is very easy to see.
Watch 1080p full screen, it may be easier to see. Im bamboozled as to whats happening.

This is 100% correct! I still race a two stroke, and was actually really happy at jlv's 250. they have virtually no engine braking IRL. But I do agree that the 450's need a little more. Jlv please leave the 2 stroke's alone (if anything less braking on the 125) but do have another look at the 450'sdie996 wrote:WRONG - 250F engines have less engine braking than 450F engines. OK, what does a streetbike have to do with the way a motocross bike is going to react? Wouldn't the power and the way that the engine responds be totally different since they are used for completely different things?die996 wrote:WRONG - 250F engines have less engine braking than 450F engines. Show me something where I can actually adjust the engine braking on my motorcycle to make it more powerful, please. All that I can find are slipper clutches, which reduce it...
I never said that a 450 had less engine braking than a 250F, but think about this. Forget about engine braking for just a second. You're going significantly faster on a heavier bike that has a significantly higher rotating mass inside the engine, all with the same brakes. Aren't you going to need more room to slow down? Now, of course there's engine braking to factor in, but I don't see how that's going to allow you to stop in the same amount of time (unless, of course, you hooked up some KTM brakes to the 450 ) as on a lighter 250F at a lower speed.
My guess? You blow over every turn on the 450 and you want to just stop on a dime. How about adjusting the way you ride the bike instead of whining about the way the bike is? Plenty of people seem to be doing just fine...

Re: 2011-12-08 snapshot
Engine braking effects only the rear wheel, isn't that like only 20% of your stopping power? With the added weight and additional speed you are carrying I can see how in a game it would feel that way. Not to mention the 450 has much more momentum, and this is harder to turn.

Re: 2011-12-08 snapshot
I wasn't asking for it so I can go faster into corners, I just really like how the 125's and 250f's feel with the drag on the rear tire when off the throttle. And actually, regardless of how much engine braking is added, the rear only has so much traction available before it begins to slide. Adding a bit of engine braking would only decrease the amount of rear brake you could effectively use, not allow you to stop any quicker. It's just a personal preference of mine that I thought would be nice to be able to have even on the bigger bikes is all.
