Re: 2017 Supercross Discussion
So Bob, if you said that in order to be racing and competing at top levels, you said you'd have to have money in order to do that. Well I am pretty sure that James Stewart was literally dirt broke as a kid and somehow he was able to win 84 National Championships before the age of 16. His dad was working at a Coca Cola factory while his mom worked at a gas station and they weren't paying all of their bills every single month risking a place for them to stay at just so that he was able to race motocross. But where is he at now? Most people that haven't been paying attention to motocross for years would just think that he is one of the riders that just goes out there and pushes to hard and ends up crashing and getting hurt when in reality he is still one of the top riders of the sport in the entire world but just has some bad luck during races as of recently. Yes, he does have millions of dollars now but that is all from his parents hard work while he was a child getting him to races while they had no money and then him literally busting his ass off just about every day in order to be the fastest rider at the track. There is a documentary on basically his entire life from when he was a little kid to present day, they skip most of his childhood racing other than when he just started and then very brief on his Amateur racing and then straight to his pro career.

Re: 2017 Supercross Discussion
Okay Matthes. I agree on nets. But stupid argument because that's not the reason. Remember it's a baseball stadium and there is a huge net right there so no excuse to not have a berm there. Same with San Diego turn before the triple. I'm starting to think it's also lack of dirt. But yeah. Foul ball nets have fought bikes before so that is the one place no berm because no net is irrelevant.TeamHavocRacing wrote:There is a better solution.....barrington314 wrote:get the turn farther from the home plate wall

Knowing absolutely nothing other than what Barrington posted, I am inclined to think this, also.AWood wrote:I'm starting to think it's also lack of dirt.

Re: 2017 Supercross Discussion
That's only two 3 footers. I doubt it's lack of dirt. But it is a 20 some foot difference in where that berm is. I don't think it's just a "bike or rider into the stands" issue. But imagine J Mart doing what he did at SD in a turn right up against a wall? He would have slammed his body into a wall pretty hard.
Nets at the top of every berm? Like trampoline nets?
Just a guess. Only slight evidence so far to suggest it. Not enough to even make me change it for our track version.

Re: 2017 Supercross Discussion
2 3 footers plus base plus depending on how much dirt they use on the berm. Probably over a dump truck load.
I'm going off a1 which had 2 berms on the whole track, and they were only in the middle of the track. Every other berm was 2 feet tall and had no extra dirt. Then San Diego before the sx triple is was like a one foot slope of dirt. Idk. They had a pile of dirt they used to fill in other spots of he track, but not enough for a new berms. Probably a mix of lack of dirt and fan safety and a bunch of other bullshit.

Nope. Just little backstop nets like the one I pictured arrayed around every berm.barrington314 wrote:Like trampoline nets?

They still have to build the berm either way.
