Is that a standard filter, or is there some cutting involved to take the effect away from some parts or how did you do that?

any opinions on the canon 550d? looking to get a better camera (instead of my finepix s1600) for not alot of money that i can get into filming with also.

Canon 550d is OK. I have the 600d which is kinda the same..
It really depends on the lens as a 50 mm gives you beautiful shots while the standard 18-55 is kinda eh.. But you are definitely able to shoot some nice pics (unless you are in the dark)
It's also good for filming, I use it for short video productions and it's perfect.
