Serious Business
I am thinking about getting a new bike in January. I am trying to decide between a 2013 KTM 250sx or 150sx. I have my 03 250sx and I really like the bike, but I do get tired pretty quick on it(mostly because of the terrible suspension and me being out shape)and people tell me it is a harder bike to ride. But I am afraid to go down on power, I love having alot of power on the 250 but when I rode my friend 12' crf250 it felt really slow, but I loved the suspension. I also suck in corners and if it's easier to corner on one of the bikes that would be positive. I'm really not sure which bike would be better. Please help me decide!

I grew up racing in the 90s, and i was i guess at the "peak" of my racing when the 4 strokes were first being introduced. I was no pro, but i raced 125 and 250 intermediate here in canada. I own a 4 stroke right now, but i do believe that there is no better bike than a 125. They arent the ideal machine for racing competitively, but they are the perfect bike. There is no bike that handles like a 125, and there is no bike out there that i have had more fun on. You do have to ride the tits off of a 125 but that is what makes it fun in my opinion. I would choose the 150sx. I rode that bike, and i was smiling ear to ear the entire time. It has the handling of a 125 and the snap of a works bike.

After riding a 250SX for so long you will probably hate going down on power. And if there's one things I've learned from riding a 125, it's that they are the most UNRELIABLE bikes I've ever ridden. Now I don't know if the 150SX is more reliable than the RM125 (The 125 I rode) or not, but I'd rather have the 250SX. More power, more reliable, more fun. Plus the newer 250SX puts out as much horsepower as the CRF450, peaked out of course.

Every thing is reliable if it is taken care of

Yeah. I think your mechanic is the unreliable one. Lol

A new bike isn't going to make you not get tired from riding. I've seen your riding videos, a 150/125 would not suit you at all.

If you're just riding for fun I'd go for the 150. I know a couple of guys that went from 450s to 150s just because of how fun they are to ride. And, the 2011 Canadian women's champ rode a 150sx to her title. KTM does demo days at tracks all over North America, maybe you can take them both for a spin before you buy one
Re: Serious Business
Get a 200 xc and get the suspension redone
Re: Serious Business
I think if you're used to the power of a 250, and a 250f felt slow for you, then a 150 will definitely not have enough power for you. Not sure if you had an 85 or not, but you would have to ride it like that (probably make you more tired than you get now).

Re: Serious Business
We made my CR250 much easier to ride by fitting a hydrualic clutch, a fly wheel weight and some carb spacers. You should try doing something like that because it makes it so much easier to ride and softens the power. All the 2013 ktms come standard with a hydrualic clutch so that'll be a start.
