I've heard conversation coming out of animal pens that is more intelligent than what is going on in here.

Maybe some dorms, definitely not this one. A bunch of nerdy girls and my girlfriend is the opposite of a slut, I guess you're #2 on my hit list, James.

Hey August I figured you would know what's causing my computer to do this.

About 5 times today it's randomly rebooted itself saying something got installed incorrectly and it had a "Crash dump file" or something, it'll show a blue screen then reboot. What's up with that?
Nate? lolol
I had this happen on my old laptop. For me, it was a bad stick of RAM. But they found that the HDD was faulty as well. I would check those two first.

You have to pay attention to what the fault is on the blue screen when it happens. If it goes away too fast before the computer restarts do this: http://www.computing.cc/windows-xp/blue ... n-read-it/.

I followed the

Control Panel - System - Advanced - Uncheck Automatic restart

Hopefully that solves it.

No that won't solve it, that will just make the computer stay on the bluescreen and not automatically restart. It will just give you time to read the error ;).

I was getting random BSOD's for no apparent reason. I started monitoring the cpu temp and the issue was that over time the thermal paste between my cpu and heat sink had nearly faded away. I reapplied thermal paste, the temperatures went down, and hasn't BSOD'd since.

You should reapply thermal paste once a year.
